Home Is Where My Heart Is 2012
Be part of one of YACWA's most successful and exciting projects as a volunteer intern.
Home is Where My Heart Is (HIWMHI), is a photo exhibition run by the Youth Affairs Council of Western Australia (YACWA) and Propel Youth Arts. The project partners an emerging photographer with a young homeless person to produce images around the theme of 'home'. The photos are entirely the work of the young homeless people, who learn about the medium of photography under the guidance of a mentor. The resulting photographs are exhibited during National Homeless Persons Week in August.
The exhibition not only raises awareness of youth homelessness in an innovative way, it also raises funds for crisis accommodation services. All profits from the sale of the prints will be donated directly to the services that support homeless young people.
2012 will be the fifth year the Home Is Where My Heart Is has been run and over that time we have raised over $18,000. As the HIWMHI Intern you will be involved in all aspects of the progression of the 2012 project including fundraising, mentor relationships, logistics, management and planning.
