About MME

The Multicultural Media Exchange (MME) assists young people from migrant and refugee backgrounds with building their media skills, and making a difference.

Our workshops are run by highly experienced journalists and other media professionals from major organisations, such as The Age, Leader Community Newspapers, ABC, SBS and many more.

MME's workshops are focused primarily on giving participants hands-on skills, including:

• Contacting and dealing with journalists
• interview techniques
• running a campaign
• writing a media release
• writing an article, opinion piece or Letter to the Editor
• shooting a video
• taking photographs

How it Began

MME started three years ago when Agnes Cusack, an award-winning ABC journalist for more than 20 years, decided to change the way the Australian media fails to fairly represent the rich diversity in our community.  

Since then, MME has assisted many young people to have their say and also encouraged fairness and respect for new and emerging communities in the media.
