UN Youth runs policy campaigns on a number of different topics throughout the year. From time to time, we open applications for positions to run campaigns, as well as to run major events and publications.
The National Conference Convenor is looking for passionate, enthusiastic and driven people with skills in these areas, or willingness to learn, to apply for these exciting volunteer positions.
WHAT is the UN Youth National Conference?
The UN Youth National Conference, Striving for Justice, in 2012 is an opportunity for high school students (Years 10-12) from around the Australia and the Asia-Pacific to come together and explore international issues. Throughout the week delegates will participate in workshops, hear from keynote speakers and partake in Model UN debate culminating in the preparation of a Youth Declaration on policy issues that affect their lives and communities.
The National Conference will be attended by over 100 delegates from around Australia, as well as delegates from New Zealand, Japan and Tonga. A further 50 tertiary aged organisers and facilitators will lead the week's activities providing best practice youth-for-youth leadership. The attendees at the conference are exceptional young people from around the world, and future global change makers.
To Apply
We are looking for outstanding young people under the age of 25 to serve on the UN Youth National Conference 2012 Organising Committee. These volunteer positions are available to Victorians with relevant skills and passion.
The successful applicants are expected to attend fortnightly Organising Committee meetings and make frequent contact with the convenor and relevant committee members to work jointly. The positions would be suitable for educationally and social minded university students or 2011 high school leavers.
All applicants are asked to submit a current CV of up to 2 pages, as well as a one‐page cover letter outlining the applicant's characteristics, skills and vision for the role.
All applications must be sent to unyc2012@unyouth.org.au. Shortlisted applicants will be required to be available for a phone interview.
