UN Women (formerly UNIFEM) is the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women.
Young UN Women Australia work domestically to:
(i) Ensure the Australian Government prioritises gender in its aid and development program as well as in domestic policy;
(ii) Challenge attitudes which perpetuate inequality in Australia; and
(iii) Raise funds for UN Women projects which empower women.
As a vital part of this mandate, Young UN Women Australia Sydney is now recruiting members aged between 18-35 years for their 2012 Outreach Working Group!
Successful applicants for this team will play an active role in organising a series of UN Women Leadership Forums for secondary and tertiary school students across Sydney aimed at developing the leadership capacities of young women. These Forums are to be held in regional and urban locations and tailored to junior students (years 7-9), senior students (years 10-11) and university students respectively.
