Would you like to be apart of Australia's largest youth-run organisation and one of the most effective climate change advocacy groups in the country? If you're a young person who is interested in:
Then this role could be for you!
The AYCC
The Australian Youth Climate Coalition (AYCC) is a coalition of Australia's largest youth organisations and over 71,000 young people from across Australia. AYCC's mission is to build a generation wide movement to solve climate change before it's too late. AYCC focuses on both short-‐term political impact and long term cultural change. In July 2011, after a period of intensive research and consultation in how to go about building an effective schools program, 'Switched On Schools' was born. In October 2011, AYCC secured a partnership with the City of Melbourne to pilot this school program under a separate title 'Start the Switch' with 15 secondary schools in Melbourne over the first half of 2012. The AYCC schools team has been working busily ever since in developing the pilot project. It's a rare and exciting time to be in the AYCC schools team, as they work to create a legacy. The team is now looking for highly committed, passionate and bright young volunteers to join and make this pilot a ground-breaking success!
Primary Responsibility
The Start the Switch Co-ordinator will be responsible to support in the creation and development of the pilot. Initially, the Co-ordinator will be supported by the Education Director in setting clear outcomes, milestones and tasks. The end result will revolve around the development of high quality training and support materials for the school mentors and students.
Experience
The ideal candidate will be a young person aged between 20 and 28 and able to commit to a minimum of 6 months from their start date. In addition to this, he or she will have:
