Background

Volunteering Qld is a community organisation funded by state and federal grants, and serves as the peak body for volunteer activities in Queensland. Volunteering Qld exists to enable volunteers and community organisations to develop the structure, skills and capacity to better the quality of volunteering for the benefit of the community.

Position Description

Volunteering Qld is seeking an innovative event manager to work with a creative team organising an Innovative Engagement Symposium in October, 2012.The symposium will be innovative both in process and topics with a focus on new and exciting models of volunteering to engage students, use arts and other media, engage the community and existing organisations.

 Skills Required

• Experience in event management
• Strong interest in creativity, volunteering and engagement

Skills Gained

• The opportunity to work with a small number of creative artists to produce short pieces of work to take place during breaks in the symposium

Volunteer Characteristics

• Strong motivation
• A genuine wish to explore new models of event management that explore creative processes centred around learning and engagement.
