Background

Red Cross is the largest humanitarian volunteer organisation in the world, with millions of members and volunteers. Young people are an invaluable resource, with their capacity to think big, take risks, and link into extensive and varied networks. As the youth network of Red Cross grows, so will its ability to positively impact our community in innovative and lasting ways.

Position Summary

The role of the Youth Advisory Committee is to design fun and innovative events and activities which have a direct humanitarian impact on the community, which we call Direct Humanitarian Actions (DHAs). The purpose of DHAs is to educate young people about the work of Red Cross, and provide them the opportunity to have a one-off, positive experience of Red Cross. The ultimate goal of the Youth Advisory Committee is to increase the profile of Red Cross among a diverse range of young cohorts by increasing the number of young people who take part in DHAs.

Position Selection Criteria:

  • Aged between 16-25 years old
  • Interest in the humanitarian work of Red Cross
  • Ability to devise innovative ways to encourage young people to get involved in Direct Humanitarian Actions
  • Ability to act as a team player to achieve the goals of a project brief
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills including with people from a wide range of backgrounds
  • Reliability and flexibility
  • Ability to coordinate a project-based working group

Conditions

  • Must be available to attend monthly meetings (in person or by phone) and be available for ad hoc events/activities
  • Must be able to commit for a term of one year
  • Must be prepared to travel across the state if required

As the youth network of Red Cross grows, so will its ability to positively impact our community in innovative and lasting ways.

Position Summary

The role of the Youth Advisory Committee is to design fun and innovative events and activities which have a direct humanitarian impact on the community, which we call Direct Humanitarian Actions (DHAs). The purpose of DHAs is to educate young people about the work of Red Cross, and provide them the opportunity to have a one-off, positive experience of Red Cross. The ultimate goal of the Youth Advisory Committee is to increase the profile of Red Cross among a diverse range of young cohorts by increasing the number of young people who take part in DHAs.

Position Selection Criteria:

  • Aged between 16-25 years old
  • Interest in the humanitarian work of Red Cross
  • Ability to devise innovative ways to encourage young people to get involved in Direct Humanitarian Actions
  • Ability to act as a team player to achieve the goals of a project brief
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills including with people from a wide range of backgrounds
  • Reliability and flexibility
  • Ability to coordinate a project-based working group

Conditions

  • Must be available to attend monthly meetings (in person or by phone) and be available for ad hoc events/activities
  • Must be able to commit for a term of one year
  • Must be prepared to travel across the state if required
