AIESEC International Internship

Closing Date:
Mon 28th Nov 2011
Opportunity Type:
Award/Fellowship
Organisation:
State:
New South Wales

Professional internships are the most intense learning experiences that we offer and link together our global network. Each year, we provide over 10,000 members the challenging opportunity to live and work in a foreign country in areas of management, technology, education, and development.

The details

  • Duration: 6 weeks to 18 months
  • Salary covers living costs except some development internships
  • It takes between 2 - 7 months to find an internship and complete the selection processes
  • Application fee varies by country
  • Airfare is usually not included

Costs

Before any trip overseas, it is necessary to consider all the costs that you might incur. Some essential costs associated with AIESEC's International Exchange Program include:

  • An administrative fee to AIESEC of $600 for Development or Education Traineeships or $750 for Management or Technical Traineeships
  • Flights to and from the location of your internship
  • Visa application costs
  • Health and travel insurance
  • Living costs (a stipend may be provided for accommodation or food, however individuals will need to consider other day-to-day costs)

Once you have been matched to an internship, AIESEC will help you apply for a relevant Visa. However, this process may take time, especially if you are travelling to developing countries. While AIESEC often has access to special working Visas, we cannot absolutely guarantee that your Visa application will be successful.

Please note: Individuals are responsible for organising their own vaccines. This should be done in consultation with a medical professional.

Eligibility

In order for you to be eligible for our Exchange Program, you must meet the following requirements:

  • You must be a tertiary education student or within two years of graduation from a tertiary institution
  • You must be less than 30 years of age
  • You cannot return to the country of your origin - specifically, a country where you have lived in for more than 2 years, anytime during the last 10 years

One of the aims of AIESEC's International Exchange Program is to provide young people with a new cultural experience. As such, it is not possible for any person to go on Exchange to a country in which they are a citizen. For example:

  • If you are an international student from China currently studying in Sydney, it is not possible for you to take up an AIESEC internship in China
  • If you are an international student from China currently studying in Sydney, it IS possible for you to take up an AIESEC internship in Ghana
  • If you were born in China, but are an Australian citizen, it IS possible for you to take up an AIESEC internship in China
