About Vibewire Youth Inc.
Vibewire is a dynamic not-for-profit youth organisation that supports young people to shape their world through media, arts and entrepreneurship. We exist to ensure that young people are included in the conversations that matter.
One of those conversations is climate change. Vibewire is in the process of launching an online space where young journalists and writers can participate in the climate change discussion by writing feature articles and information pieces on the Green movement. We are seeking a talented project coordinator to take the reins.
The project is called 'Wise Up and Rise Up' and is aimed at both informing the public about the issue as well as engaging readers with dynamic and interesting content. The minimum commitment we ask for is three months, although longer commitments are welcomed.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
Developing story ideas and following them through from conception to production
Liaising with resident writers and assisting them in gathering material for stories
Liaising with our resident PR intern to assist in gathering useful contacts and directing the publicity of the project
Writing articles which would entail research, interviewing people of interest and producing the article itself
Liaising with Enterprise Hub Coordinator to assist in the strategic direction of the project
Skills and requirements:
Interest in journalism/communications/PR (enrolment or tertiary qualification in these areas is an advantage)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience in writing/journalism
Ability to lead/mobilise a small team to produce content
Bright personality and able to build rapport with people
Excellent research skills
Experience and familiarity with blogging sites such as Wordpress will be looked upon favourably
Enthusiasm for the vision, mission, and values of Vibewire Youth Inc.
