The Australian Youth Climate Coalition
Power Shift Accommodation Volunteer
TIME COMMITMENT:
2:00pm-5:00pm 13/10/2011,
6:00am-9:30am and 8:30-10:30pm 14/10/2011-16/10/2011
NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 25
LOCATION: Brisbane
RESPONSIBLE TO: Emily Murray (National Logistics Manager)
Applications are due on Sunday 11 September 2011.
ABOUT THE AYCC AND THE POSITION
Established in early 2007, The Australian Youth Climate Coalition (www.aycc.org.au) unites over 60,000 young Australians and all major Australian youth organisations to build a generation wide movement to solve climate change. We educate, empower, inspire andmobilise young Australians to solve climate change, through short-term political impact and long-term cultural change.
In 2011 Power Shift will be held in Brisbane and Perth, for two inspirational, empowering conferences. Each Power Shift conference will be a three-day event, with high profile keynote addresses from Australia's foremost climate change campaigners, interactive workshops and skills training, media stunts, social events and grassroots movement building!
Power Shift, like the AYCC, is based upon the passion and dedication of volunteers. We are looking for twenty-five outstanding young people to help make Power Shift a reality.
RESPONSIBILITIES
SKILLS
Accommodation Volunteers provide essential support for the wellbeing of underage Power Shift participants outside conference activities. They must be approachable and able to make friends easily. Accommodation Volunteers should be capable of acting calmly and confidently in difficult situations, and experts at resolving interpersonal conflict. They must be gracious and kind, even when they are tired or stressed. Previous experience working with nongovernmental organisations would be advantageous, however, we recognise that the best people may have no formal experience but are quick learners. Applicants must hold, or be willing to obtain, a Working With Children Check.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Please send a short resume (2 pages max) and a one paragraph explanation of why you would be suitable for the position to Emily Murray, National Logistics Manager at Emily.Murray@youthclimatecoalition.org. If you have any questions about the role, please email them to Emily Murray.
People wishing to apply for an Accommodation Volunteer position are also encouraged to apply for a Welfare Volunteer position, as the positions require similar skills and applicants are likely to be suited for both roles.
