This includes sys­tem­at­ic­ally man­aging the Victorian Division's fin­an­cial health, meeting with key stake­hold­ers to secure funding, and helping to create a com­pli­ant and healthy working atmo­sphere. The Media Relations Officer will be jointly respons­ible for the imple­ment­a­tion of a state based com­mu­nic­a­tions strategy that max­im­ises public aware­ness of the organ­isa­tion within Queensland, specifically via the media. The role will neces­sit­ate fre­quent engage­ment with key stake­hold­ers in the nationʼs public policy, busi­ness and media com­munit­ies.  It will have particular responsibility for build­ing trusted rela­tion­ships with journ­al­ists and other media contacts. Reporting to the Queensland Communications Manager, this role will also involve fre­quent con­sulta­tion with state and national com­mu­nic­a­tions staff within Left Right Think-Tank.

The Programs Manager will help shape the organ­isa­tion as an influential and innov­at­ive think-tank through­out Australia by over­see­ing the Programs of the QLD Team.  The suc­cess­ful can­did­ate will play a key lead­er­ship role at the state level through over­see­ing the admin­is­tra­tion and deliv­ery of an ambi­tious and stra­tegic Programs agenda. The role will report to the Queensland State Director and also require fre­quent con­sulta­tion with the National Programs Director. The pos­i­tion is a volun­teer role for a minimum period of 12 months com­men­cing in August 2011. Applicants must be aged between 15 and 24 years old and be able to meet reg­u­larly in Brisbane.

Left Right Think-Tank is cur­rently seeking an ener­getic and optim­istic young person to work within the Queensland Communications Team as the Promotions Officer.

The role will report to the Communications Manager. 

The position is a volunteer role for a minimum period of 5 months commencing in August 2011.

Volunteers must be aged between 15 and 24 years old and be able to meet reg­u­larly in Brisbane.

Left  Right  is  com­mit­ted  to  accom­mod­at­ing  the  needs  of  its  volunteers  and recognises that young people have numerous competing demands on their time. It is important, however, that applic­ants are able to dedicate time to Left Right on a weekly  basis. This volun­teer pos­i­tion as Promotions Officer will be required to do 15 hours/week on average. The pos­i­tion is vol­un­tary and can be fulfilled through a mixture of working from home and attending meetings with staff and stakeholders.

The Programs Officer (Consultation and Engagement) will be based in Brisbane and will help shape the organ­isa­tion as an influential and innov­at­ive think-tank through­out Australia by running Left Right's Consultation and Engagement Program. The program involves running work­shops and enga­ging with a wide range of young people about the public policy issue presently being researched by the Policy Department. The aim is to engage with young people to provide an oppor­tun­ity to talk about these public policy issues, because it is valu­able for young people to realise that their ideas are import­ant and that these issues do matter.

The role will include a high level of col­lab­or­a­tion with the Social Media Manager and Communications Director as well. There will be an emphasis on the imple­ment­a­tion of new website content and digital mater­ial, so some tech­nical skill with HTML, PHP or other lan­guages would be con­sidered advantageous.

He or she will also focus on the ways soft­ware can assist Left Right Think-Tank's network of volun­teers across Australia. While there will be an emphasis on the imple­ment­a­tion of new web­sites and digital mater­ial, tech­nical abil­it­ies such as pro­gram­ming and graphic design are advant­age­ous, though not required. He or she will, however, have a passion for digital media and a healthy, current know­ledge of upcom­ing products in the sector. The suc­cess­ful applic­ant could look forward to a bright future in social media or IT.

Left  Right  is  com­mit­ted  to  accom­mod­at­ing  the  needs  of  its  volunteers  and recognises that young people have numerous competing demands on their time. It is important, however, that applic­ants are able to dedicate time to Left Right on a weekly  basis.
