  • Liaise with the other members of the Events team to ensure events are adequately promoted and resourced.
  • Identify and resolve potential problems and risks for the event.
  • Evaluate and document the events' successes and challenges for future reference.

  • Initiative and excellent problem‐solving abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A professional demeanour for dealing with venues and sponsors
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Great strategic planning and organisational skills
  • Flexibility and ability to think on your feet

Position Benefits

  • Invaluable experience working for a non‐for-profit organisation with all its associated challenges.
  • Practical life skills such as communication, time management, problem solving and conflict resolution.
  • The opportunity to gain experience in your area of study - particularly if you are studying event management.
  • The opportunity to be a part of a project that raises much-needed funds for educational projects in developing communities.

Time Commitment
Approximately 10 hours per week, including a weekly team meeting. This will vary depending on the proximity to the event. As the event approaches your workload will increase; in the early days your workload will be less. You  will also be expected to attend training and planning days 4 times per year, 4  whole branch events per year and National Conference (if possible).

All applicants are required to submit a current CV and a cover letter of no more than 2 pages, outlining the applicant's characteristics, skills, and motivation to join The Oaktree Foundation. The Oaktree Foundation is an aid and development organisation run by young people under the age of 26. We believe that education is the most powerful force we have to change the world.

The Global Community Forum Logistics Officers will work within the Events team. They will be responsible for organising the Global Community Forum, while reporting to the Global Community Forum Manager and liaising with other members of the Global Community Forum team. We are looking for up to three Officers.

Specific Activities

  • Plan all aspects of events, including finding a venue, organising food and drink, securing a guest speaker, managing the guest list, and creating the running sheet for the night.
  • Liaise with the other members of the Events team to ensure events are adequately promoted and resourced.
  • Identify and resolve potential problems and risks for the event.
  • Evaluate and document the events' successes and challenges for future reference.

Skills required
The Global Community Forum Logistics Officers will be enthusiastic, energetic and passionate. It is essential that you have either experience in a similar role or skills and interests that are easily transferable to the role. The Global Community Forum Logistics Officers should have:

  • Experience managing events or projects
  • Experience maintaining financial records and budgets for events

Applications close 5pm Monday August 29th, 2011. All applications must be received in full by this time by Gab Barnes, at g.barnes@theoaktree.org.
