Finance Officer
Left Right Think-Tank is currently seeking an energetic, optimistic and detail-orientated young person to work within the Queensland Business Team as the Finance Officer.
The Finance Officer is responsible for the running, planning and management of Left Right Think-Tank's finances. Reporting to Business Manager the Finance Officer's main duty will be to support the Queensland team with all finance and accounting related functions. The successful person will have a commitment to undertake accounting functions with accuracy and timeliness and a desire to improve and develop their skill set.
Candidates with a strong background in accounting are encouraged to apply. Applicants that are detail-oriented, who love working in a team, are particularly sought.
The role will report to the Queensland Business Manager. The position is a volunteer role for a minimum period of 12 months commencing in July 2011. Volunteers must be aged between 15 and 24 years old and be able to meet regularly in Brisbane.
Left Right is committed to accommodating the needs of its volunteers and recognises that young people have numerous competing demands on their time. It is important, however, that applicants are able to dedicate time to Left Right on a weekly basis. This volunteer position requires a commitment of 8-10 hours/week on average. The position is voluntary and can be fulfilled through a mixture of working from home and attending meetings with staff and stakeholders.
Key responsibilities:
- Proactively managing the state budget and spending alongside the Business Manager and State Director.
- Communicating Budget updates and reports to the State Director and National Finance Team.
- Managing state sponsorship funds and organising reimbursements for Queensland staff.
- Organising potential quotes and payment of services.
- Overseeing all finance related matters
Selection criteria:
- Some level of education in the areas of finance, commerce or accounting is required.
- Past accounting experience would be preferred.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Versatility, flexibility, attention to detail and a high level of initiative.
- Excellent written and communication skills with the ability to prepare quality documentation.
- High level computer skills with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and appropriate accounting programs.
