If you want to make an impact on the issue of climate change, AYCC is looking for a Media Coordinator to help build awareness of climate change issues, and inspire action within young people and the wider community. The ideal candidate will be passionate, creative and friendly person aged 16-29. The position is for a 12 month period and is on a voluntary basis. Expected time: 8 - 12 hours per week.
This person will be part of the AYCC Perth core team, working with the project teams to generate positive publicity and media attention around the group's projects, build awareness of climate change issues, and inspire action within young people and the wider community.
Your role will include (but not be limited to):
- Develop the overall media strategy for AYCC Perth
- Manage the media timeline, and uphold all media deadlines
- Attend and contribute to fortnightly core team meetings
- Collaborate with AYCC Perth teams to develop media and promotional projects
- Engage and communicate with media about AYCC affiliated media relations
Successful applicants will:
- Be passionate about taking action against climate change and creating a positive
- narrative on youth making a difference on climate change
- Be flexible with their time and able to adapt to the needs of their volunteer collaborators
- Have excellent people skills and be enthusiastic about working with like-minded people
- Have a high level of integrity, professionalism, commitment and attention to detail
- Be happy to collaborate with and learn from others, share ideas and expertise
- Be persistent, patient, friendly, and passionate about creating a movement for change,
- whilst having fun
Desirable competencies and experience (at least one):
- Strong written and communication skills
- Professional writing experience
- Sound understanding of local, state and national media bodies
- Media liaison experience
- Volunteer management skills
If you don't have any of the skills and competencies listed above, and are willing to learn and are passionate about this role, please apply. We know that the best people sometimes have no formal experience but are quick learners.

Opportunity Overview:
If you want to make an impact on the issue of climate change, AYCC is looking for a Media Coordinator to help build awareness of climate change issues, and inspire action within young people and the wider community.
If you want to make an impact on the issue of climate change, AYCC is looking for a Media Coordinator to help build awareness of climate change issues, and inspire action within young people and the wider community. The ideal candidate will be passionate, creative and friendly person aged 16-29. The position is for a 12 month period and is on a voluntary basis. Expected time: 8 - 12 hours per week.
This person will be part of the AYCC Perth core team, working with the project teams to generate positive publicity and media attention around the group's projects, build awareness of climate change issues, and inspire action within young people and the wider community.
Your role will include (but not be limited to):
- Develop the overall media strategy for AYCC Perth
- Manage the media timeline, and uphold all media deadlines
- Attend and contribute to fortnightly core team meetings
- Collaborate with AYCC Perth teams to develop media and promotional projects
- Engage and communicate with media about AYCC affiliated media relations
Successful applicants will:
- Be passionate about taking action against climate change and creating a positive
- narrative on youth making a difference on climate change
- Be flexible with their time and able to adapt to the needs of their volunteer collaborators
- Have excellent people skills and be enthusiastic about working with like-minded people
- Have a high level of integrity, professionalism, commitment and attention to detail
- Be happy to collaborate with and learn from others, share ideas and expertise
- Be persistent, patient, friendly, and passionate about creating a movement for change,
- whilst having fun
Desirable competencies and experience (at least one):
- Strong written and communication skills
- Professional writing experience
- Sound understanding of local, state and national media bodies
- Media liaison experience
- Volunteer management skills
If you don't have any of the skills and competencies listed above, and are willing to learn and are passionate about this role, please apply. We know that the best people sometimes have no formal experience but are quick learners.
