Do you know a young volunteer who makes a difference to their local community?

Nominate them for a Queensland Young Volunteer Awards before 5pm Friday 24 June 2011 and they could win $500.

There are seven award categories that recognise either individuals or groups. There are two age groups - 12 to 17 years and 18 to 25 years - in the following categories:

  • Arts and culture volunteers channel their passion for arts and culture into entertaining and educating the community
  • Community service volunteers contribute to the strength and well-being of their community
  • Green volunteers contribute to protecting the natural environment
  • Online volunteers contribute to their community or a cause they care about via the internet and online networks.Social innovators create their own social enterprises, or new activities within established organisations, or use innovative fundraising methods.
  • Sport and recreation volunteers create a more active, healthy community

One award will be presented in the following category:

  • School action volunteers reach out to their communities through school-organised activities
