Established in 2011, Global Voices is a not for profit organisation seeking to promote an understanding of and participation in international diplomacy by young Australians.
We do this through regular events and research & development opportunities at home, along with the coordination of youth delegations to important diplomatic forums abroad.
The primary purpose of Global Voices is educational. Education is a powerful driver of change in society and in the context of diplomacy, effectively complements the efforts of diplomatic officials by promoting understanding and friendship between multiple countries.
But Global Voices is also a platform for young Australians to engage with youth from across the world on matters of international importance, whether it is economic development, food security, energy security or the creation of a unified response to climate change.
Global Voices began as a Community Action Project of the Global Changemakers Program, an initiative of the British Council. We rely on the financial support of universities across the country to provide young Australians with these high level opportunities to interact with key players in international affairs.
Focused on providing a platform for youth leadership development, AIESEC offers young people the opportunity to participate in international internships, experience leadership and participate in a global learning environment.
Operating as a national network of young volunteers, UNYA Australia is based firmly on a philosophy of best practice youth-for-youth leadership. UNYA focus on developing students' skills in vital areas such as debating, negotiation, leadership, problem-solving and understanding of international affairs in an accessible and supportive environment.
The Australian Youth Climate Coalition’s mission is to build a generation wide movement to solve climate change before it is too late.
We do this through uniting all major youth organisations, and over 50,000 young Australians, to achieve short-term influence and long-term cultural change. Our members and partners coordinate, communicate and network with each other to run shared projects and campaigns to facilitate young Australians taking action to solve the climate crisis in our schools, TAFEs, Universities and communities.
The AYCC is one of Australia’s few examples of an entirely youth-run and youth-led organisation. All AYCC staff, volunteers and steering committee members are under thirty, and the vast majority are under twenty-five. AYCC’s mission, objectives and projects were all developed by, and are re-visited and evaluated by young people including youth in our member and partner groups, our young staff and steering committee, and our teams of young volunteers.
AYCC focuses on both youth empowerment - enabling young people to create opportunities and take on active roles in our communities – and youth development - equipping young people with the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to allow youth to take on more responsibility.
What is Left Right Think-Tank?
Left Right Think-Tank is Australia’s first independent, non-partisan think-tank of young minds with a mission to involve young people in public policy. We are not-for-profit, and all our staff are aged between 16-24 and volunteer their time for our cause. We aim to help create a society where young people advise and are consulted on national issues of broad community concern, not just youth issues. Our vision is for a society that seeks and embraces the ideas of young people.
What does Left Right Think-Tank do?
Left Right Think-Tank engages young people in education and policy-production programs to provide them the resources and the framework to create the vision for Australia’s future. We produce high impact policy, focused on the long-term, in wide consultation with young people, providing innovative solutions and recommendations to pressing problems in Australia. We provide a platform and a space, online and in the community, for young people to grow their networks, skills and knowledge. We want to create a place where young Australians can share with each other their visions for the future.
Why young people?
Fundamentally we believe that young people aren’t just tomorrow’s leaders, but a powerful catalyst for change today. Further, young Australians are heavily invested in decisions made today, because we’ll feel their effects tomorrow.
